The end of the school year is here and we are busier that ever. School performances, field trips, and making plans for summertime fun. Summer is a time to slow down, catch up, and reconnect with old friends and family. Be sure to enjoy and cherish that time.
Scouting may slow down during the summer but we never stop! Be sure to check the Troop website and calendar for schedules and events. Summer Camp, New England Dragway, and the Ice Cream Social to name just a few.
I would to take a moment to thank all of the volunteers that work with the scouts in our Troop. From weekly Troop meetings. monthly Committee Meetings, accounts to manage, trips to be planned and booked, Merit Badge classes to be taught, advancement to be tracked, and young men to follow through scouting and guided. Countless hours, graciously donated, without payment of money. The gratification comes when we see the young boys transformed into fine young men and outstanding citizens in our community. Thank you volunteers!

Scout Slogan: "Do a Good Turn Daily!"
Hello Scouts and Families,
The Scouting year is coming to a close. Troop 401 does have a few activities planned for the summer months. The main ones are a week at Hidden Valley and a week at Camp Bell. Both weeks look to be a fun filled week. Please if anyone has any questions on summer camp please ask me or one of the leaders. We have all been there so we should be able to answer any of your questions. This is a great place for your son to have some fun and learn many things. The leaders also walk away with learning many things. Everyone will have great stories to tell for years to come.
Over the summer months you scouts can earn merit badges and work on your next rank. A couple of merit badges that can be earned over the summer are as follows: Reading, Gardening, Collections, and Pets. These badges can be earned by doing some of the things you will be doing anyway. If you want more info on these merit badges, look at the merit badge requirements. The requirements are all fairly easy. If anyone has done some of the requirements on their next rank and would like to have some things signed off get in touch with either your patrol advisor or me and we will see what we can do.
During the summer we have plans to go to New England Dragway on a Wednesday night. We will have more info later. We also are planning on going to Conway, NH to the Conway Scenic Railroad. While there we are going to work on the Railroading merit badge. This also may be a campout. Again more info will be coming.
July 4th Troop 401 will be carrying the US Flag in the Parade. After the parade there is a midway where we have the dunk booth to man. This is like in the past and should be a great time for all. If the temp is hot you will be able to cool off in the dunk tank. Please let myself or Mrs. Petrovic know if you plan on being there for either the parade or the dunk booth.
Congratulations to all on earning your merit badges and ranks over the past year. Troop 401 has always done well. Keep up the great work. I hope everyone has a great summer and I look forward to seeing you all in September. As more things are planned for the summer months we will be sending out emails too let everyone know. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments please let me know.
