Committee Chairman’s Corner

Spring is a busy time for everyone. Getting ready for summer trips, activities, vacations or camp. Scouting is also very busy. We start out with following the Scout Slogan of "doing a good turn daily." Community service projects of Adopt a Road and St. James clean-up to name a few. We then prepare for the Troop summer adventures to Hidden Valley and Camp Bell. It will be quiet an adventure. As another Scouting year slows down for the summer, (we never really stop) I want to extend a heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all for the adults who are responsible for supporting the Troop through all of the adventures, large and small over the last year. The Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters, Members of the Advancement Committee, Members of the Troop Committee, the Activities Chairperson, the Troop Publicity and Newsletter person, the Fundraising Committee, and all of the parents who provide transportation to the events. Without their continued support and contribution of countless hours, this Troop and the programs would not exist. All of your assistance is needed and welcomed. 'If everyone does just a little, there won't be any big jobs left to be done.' Become a member of the Troop Committee or even consider becoming an Assistant Scoutmaster. No experience necessary. We provide you with the experiences (and opportunity to attend training!) Get involved with you son's activities. Participate beside him and have fun, without getting in his way. You will be provided with opportunities to actually see how wonderful of a young man he has become.

Thanks,
Marsha Kofman Troop 401 Committee Chair

Attention:

****EAGLE COURT OF HONOR.....All scouts and their family members are cordially invited to Kurt Mithoefer's Eagle Court of Honor. The ceremony will be in the sanctuary of St. James United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 19, 2002 at 2:00pm. Reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. ******

Summertime Uniform (Class B) shirt orders being taken.

It's that time of year again where some Scouts need Class B uniform shirts. The troop's selected shirt is a custom screened, the Scout fleur-de-lis on the left chest in red, and the full-color troop logo on the back on a light tan/stone color tee. Cost is $7.50 per shirt.

I need to know, no later than 13-May-2002, how many and what sizes you will want. Delivery will be approximately 2 weeks later. Remember that the class B uniform is what we wear on just about every event in the summer, except for the 4th of July parade when we wear our Class A's.
