Committee Chairman’s Corner
Welcome back to another scouting year! After a busy summer with Scout Camp and trips to the National
Jamboree, it really never paused. As you can see from the tentative scout calendar, the boys have planned some new and different events to go along with some of the old favorites. For those who are not familiar with the scouting program, the boy scouts plan their own calendar. The adult leaders only assist with the scheduling and logistics of carpools and tour permits. It is very exciting to see ideas develop into an event! Speaking of adults, the Troop is always looking for new Committee Members! You could be needed for a Scout Board of Review, assist with any of the events, or even go on campouts! Your assistance, ideas and support are always welcome. We look forward to an exciting Scouting Year.

Scoutmaster Minutes
The year has started for Troop 401. We have a very busy schedule planned with almost everything confirmed. Some of these trips are camping, fishing, star gazing, and others. We will be needing some assistance from all you parents. Mostly with transportation, but we will not limit it to that. If you would like to take part in any of these events with the troop please do.
This month we will be participating in the Scouting for Food program. The first date is Oct 20. This will be the bag distribution. On Oct 27th we will be picking up the bags. The times for these will be Saturday morning. Please check with your son. We will be announcing the times at the troop meeting. The troop is also going to antics in Manchester. This will be on Oct 13. Permission slips have already been distributed and should have already been turned in.
Over the next couple of months we will be participating in a few service projects. Scouting for food is one, others will be pie baking and adopt a road. More info will be sent out at the troop meetings.
Please remind you son to check his mail box at the troop meetings. This will be the place all the info will be placed. Also check the troop website. All info will be there along with the permission slips. Hopefully everyone has signed up for the email groups. This will be a way info will also be passed out. If not please see Chris Petrovic and he will let you know what to do.
If your son signs up to go to an event please make sure that they arrive on time. If there is a reason that he will be arriving later to an event please info one of the leaders who are going to the event along with Margie Petrovic. Margie is the person who makes sure we have enough transportation to and from these events. This is very important to keep in mind.
Over the summer there were many merit badges and ranks earned. Congratulations scouts, you all did a great job. Don't stop now keep it going. I should also congratulate you parents because without your support they would not have earned all these awards. These next few months there will be many opportunities to earn more merit badges.
If any one has any questions or comments please let one of the leaders know. This is the only way that we will know if anything needs changing. The patrol advisors are a good place to start. Each patrol has an advisor. They are to work with the patrols and inform me if there are any problems.
See you at the troop events
